I was driving down the road when I got a call from Will telling me that Scotty was going to be online playing. I wasn’t headed home until I got that call. I changed my plans immediately and called my husband to get the computer booted up as I raced home. Good thing I didn’t get a ticket! I know I’m not the only one in this league who loves Scotty enough to drop everything for him. That’s one of the things I love about this league – the way we care about each other. Unfortumately, many of us aren’t exactly spring chickens. Please take care of yourselves and continue to pray for our members who are struggling with health issues. I want to see all of you around here for a long, long time!

From the Desk of Bacatya

Spring has sprung!  I just love seeing the flowers blooming.  Needless to say, I can’t enjoy the early flowers along my walkway, as my grandchildren found much enjoyment in picking the beautiful blooms off every single flower!  You guessed it, no one did it!  With the warm weather at hand, we also will feel the effects of the warm weather.  Fewer tourneys will go and we will see less members playing.  Each year the warmer months tend to be a slower season on the wonderful internet.  Just be patient and get in the tourneys, maybe they will go.  We also have brought back the game survival 101.  This is a three hander, and is an unrated game.  If you get a spam to come on out and play, then do so if you have the time and we will play which ever game we have enough participants for.  Don’t forget we need your deposit for the blowout no later than May 1st.  All the information you will need is on the blowout page listed on the nut link page.  This page can be accessed thru our main page.  It is listed on the right hand side of the main page about midway down.  We were blessed to have Scotty come visit us in the lobby and a current picture was posted on the tourney page for that evening of Scott.  The photo will be featured in this months newsletter also.  I had the chance to speak with Scott and my findings were that it takes an awful lot out of him to carry on a conversation.  Chris said he had a bad night and that may have had some bearing on him being short winded.  I do know that we miss him very much and him just being in the lobby brought much joy to many.  I hope you continue to remember him in your prayers as he has come a long way and still has a bit to go.  Also, remember Cheeky, 4x4momma, Phuddy, and Gma_moocow in your prayers.  In closing, I would like to remind each of you to get out and take advantage of the spring weather and smell the flowers only if your grandkids don’t pick them all!

With Love Always,

       Bacatya

At the Movies with Joe

we live in a time of modern conviences that make our lives a great deal easier......so much so we tend to take certain things for granted . we turn on the television after a hard days work and the only time we think about  it is when it doesn't come on.we pop in that rented dvd  and get our microwave popcorn(or whatever we eat when watching a movie).we take very little ( if any ) time to consider that someone years ago worked hard to make what we enjoy today.........so lets take sometime to acknoldge the following people who helped make our veiwing pleasrure possible today. fisrt on our list is vladimir kosma zworykin who holds the patient for the television...........next is charles paulson ginsburg , the inventor of the video cassette recorder.........then we give thanks lou gerstner who seeing another vhs / beta max format war with the new disc formats  played matchmaker and convinced them to come up with 1 format ......the current standard dvd.....and last ( but certainly far from least ) lets also remember george atkinson who opened the first video rental store in los angeles in 1979 , zenith made the first remote control (it used ultrasonic soundwaves and NO battieries) and percy spencer........what did he do?..........he invented the microwave that you used to pop your popcorn . so next time sit down and pop in that movie , get your popcorn ready and pick up that trusty remote , remember these people  who made it all possible

A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year. See the online calculator for an estimate of the amount you will receive.

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process and to compute a stimulus payment amount. For these returns, stimulus payments may not be issued in accordance with the schedule above, even if the tax return was processed by April 15.

A LITTLE 'SCOTTISH' LEVITY

One day a Scotsman who had been stranded on a deserted island for over
10 years, saw a speck on the horizon. He thought to himself, 'It's certainly
not a ship..'  And, as the speck got closer and closer, he began to rule out
the possibilities of a small boat and even a raft.

Suddenly there emerged from the surf a wet-suited black clad figure.
Putting aside the scuba gear and the top of the wet suit, there stood a
drop-dead gorgeous blonde!

The glamorous blonde strode up to the stunned Scotsman and said to him,
Tell me, how long has it been since you've had a good cigar.'
Ten years,' replied the amazed Scotsman.

With that, she reached over and unzipped a waterproof pocket on the left
sleeve of her wetsuit and pulled out a fresh package of cigars.
He takes one, lights it, and takes a long drag. 'Ach no,' said the man,
'that is so good I'd almost forgotten how great a smoke can be!

'And how long has it been since you've had a drop of good Scottish
Whiskey?' asked the blonde. Trembling, the castaway replied, 'Ten years.'
Hearing that, the blonde reaches over to her right sleeve, unzips a pocket
there and removes a flask and hands it to him. He opened the flask and took a long drink.
''Tis nectar of the gods!' stated the Scotsman. ''Tis truly fantastic!!!'

At this point the gorgeous blonde started to slowly unzip the long front of
her wet suit, right down the middle. She looked at the trembling man and
asked, 'And how long has it been since you played around?

With tears in his eyes, the Scotsman fell to his knees and sobbed, 'Jesus,
Mary and Joseph! Don't tell me that you've got golf clubs in there, too!'

c.. (1) 1224-21, 2-1/2" Porcelain head & hands
d.. (1) 10427-10, 12" x 12mm Chenille Stem
e.. (1) 07067 Cream 7/8" Ribbon x 6yds
f.. glue gun (low temp preferred)
g.. scrap of felt or heavy fabric
h.. optional ribbon roses for center of hands

Finished size is approx. 7-1/2" tall x 7-1/2" wide (with wings).

Instructions:

1.. Hold porcelain doll head by base. Run a bead of glue around neck and attach Schlappens feathers. Start from middle of the back of neck & come around until it meets. It's okay if it doesn't completely cover.

2.. Cut a 5-1/2" piece of chenille stem. On each end, glue a hand. Place hot glue inside hand & slide stem in, repeat on other side. Be sure both thumbs face up. Bend in place around the neck of your angel. Attach at center of back. Fold around & let arms hand.

3.. Take your 5" piece of 7/8" Cream ribbon & fold in half, knot
each end. Attach at back. Wrap around to hide chenille stem loosely and
attach with glue. Position hands where you want them, glue in place. You
can add a rose, some lace, pearls or any accent. You can also put some
pearls around the neck.

4.. Make several coils w/glitter stem for halo. Attach to back.

5.. Cut your 4" piece of hackle feathers into 2 pieces. Fan out and glue to back of angel to make wings. Add a small piece of felt or fabric & glue a bar pin, attach to back or you can attach a cord to hand or pin it. You can also take some feather scraps and glue around the head for an added touch.

Hope you enjoy your angel!
