We’re on a roll now! This month we have even more contributions from our illustrious TDs. I’m slowly but surely working myself out of a job. All part of my master plan….. hehehe
Bac’s Final Word
All members are responsible for reading the tournament rules before you enter a tournament. These rules are listed on the main registration page. They are also listed on the rules page of each tournament. You are required to place a check mark in the designated area before you can finalize your entry for each tournament. If you do not understand any game rules it is your responsibility to "ASK" prior to tournament start time. Where & who do you ask? Any td or canastanut staff member will be more than happy to explain any questions you may have. Thanks, With Love Always BACATYA
Now Hear This
Blowout is a fantastic opportunity to get together and play canasta in the real. Linda is gracious enough to open her home to all of us and let us hang out, play cards, laugh a lot and have a great time. Please get plenty of sleep before you come because the league will not pay the bill when you are hospitalized for exhaustion. Linda reports that the carpenters are almost finished rebuilding her home after the last Blowout, and we’re aiming for a July 2008 gathering. (Hey ----- We had a very good time ;) How was I supposed to know that was breakable?) Well anyway…… we will keep you updated with more info. as we get closer to the date.
All submissions to the newsletter should be sent to newsletter@bacatya.com
This includes Pet of the Month, Recipe of the Month and Ask Will questions. Hopefully this will simplify things for everyone.
Don’t forget that Linda is still asking for pictures and birthdates. Hey – if she can post that horrible pic of me, you can stand to have yours posted too. We want to know what you look like and we promise we’re not a bunch of ax murderers – right Scotty?

SITTING BEHIND A COUPLE OF NUNS
AT A BASEBALL GAME
(WHOSE HEAD GEAR PARTIALLY BLOCKED THE VIEW), THREE
MEN DECIDED TO BADGER THE NUNS IN AN EFFORT TO GET
THEM TO MOVE.
IN A VERY LOUD VOICE, THE FIRST GUY SAID, "I THINK
I'M GOING TO MOVE TO UTAH , THERE ARE ONLY 100 NUNS
LIVING THERE."
THE SECOND GUY SPOKE UP AND SAID, "I WANT TO GO TO
MONTANA , THERE ARE ONLY 5O NUNS LIVING THERE."
THE THIRD GUY SAID, "I WANT TO GO TO IDAHO , THERE
ARE ONLY 25 NUNS LIVING THERE."
ONE OF THE NUNS TURNED AROUND, LOOKED AT THE MEN,
AND IN A VERY SWEET, CALM, VOICE SAID, "WHY DON'T
YOU GO TO HELL...
THERE AREN'T ANY NUNS THERE."
Scotsman & Baseball
A Scotsman came to Canada and attended his first baseball game.
The first batter approached the batter's box, took a couple of swings and then
hit A double. Everyone was on their feet screaming "RUN!"
The next batter hit a single.
The Scotsman listened as the crowd again cheered "RUN! RUN!".
The Scotsman was enjoying the game and began screaming with the fans.
The third batter came up and four balls went by. The umpire called a
walk.
The batter started his slow trot to first base.
The Scot stood up and screamed "Run ye lazy bastard, "RRUNN!"
The people around him began laughing. Embarrassed, the Scot sat back
down.
A friendly fan noted the man's embarrassment and leaned over to explain.
"He can't run -- he's got four balls."
The Scot stood up and screamed: "Walk with pride, Laddie!"

Scent Of Roses
The leaves will soon start to change and even now there is a crispness in the evening air; it is Autumn. As I grow older I tend to look back at the Spring of my life. I remember the innocence of youth and the awakening to all things new. I smile as these thoughts rush as a mountain stream in my mind. I am now entering the Autumn of my years and it is a bit unnerving. Yet as the natural turning of a season is to be celebrated so must I celebrate this new walk I am entering. My prayer is that I will take time to view the trees and experience the difference that comes with this new season of my life. I am looking forward to what God has in store for me and pray I live up to the task. The seasons of our life are just as those of the natural, short but always wonderful. God grant me the wisdom to walk in your will and enjoy the roads I travel.....Amen

CONGRATS TO WILL ON WINNING THIS MONTHS PET OF THE MONTH!!!!
THIS IS WILL AND HIS AUNTS TWO AWESOME DOGS...OR ARE THEY WILL'S PROM DATES?????? TY ALL WHO ENTERED THIS MONTH.
Although a dog's breath under normal circumstances is not the sweetest smell in the world you will certainly notice when it becomes foul smelling. Bad breath is usually an indictor that something is not right with your dog's health.
Possible Causes of Bad Breath in Dogs
Broken, Decayed or Abscessed tooth.
Periodontal Disease
Periodontitis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the teeth)
Bone or foreign body stuck between the teeth
Gastrointestinal disease including cancers and obstructions
Sinus infections
Kidney Disease
Mouth tumors
Firstly, ask yourself if
there are any other symptoms associated with the bad breath.
Does your dog seem to be in pain around the mouth area?
Is there a reluctance to eat?
Does your dog try to eat but drops the food once it gets into the mouth?
Does your dog run to the food bowl eagerly then cannot eat.
Is your dog pawing at the mouth?
Is your dog drooling?
These could be signs of a bad, broken or abscessed tooth or gum disease. If possible, check your dog's mouth for foreign bodies such as splinters of bones lodged between the teeth. Check to see if the gums look normal and that there are no signs of swelling or bleeding. An abscessed or damaged tooth may not be noticeable to you so if in doubt get your vet to check your dog's mouth.
Sometimes the food (or garbage) a dog eats can affect it's breath but usually this is not long lasting. After a couple of hours the food has passed through the stomach and into the intestines.
Some underlying conditions that cause canine bad breath can only be successfully diagnosed by your veterinarian.
Avoid expensive dental bills by caring for your dog's teeth. Remember the old adage that prevention is better than cure.
Dental disease is one of the most common symptoms of bad breath in dogs. Tartar build up caused by plaque should be avoided by either cleaning your dog's teeth yourself or having an annual scaling by your vet. There are specially formulated toothpastes and specially designed toothbrushes for dogs.
Brush your dog's teeth daily. You may have some difficulties when you first begin to do this but many dogs end up enjoying the procedure. You may wish to use a regular dog toothbrush or a finger brush. A finger brush is a rubber cap that you place over your finger. It has soft rubber bristles and is useful for getting into hard to reach areas. Many dogs who won't let you brush with a toothbrush will allow you to put your finger in their mouth using the finger brush.
Never use human toothpaste on your dog. Your dog will invariably swallow whatever you clean his teeth with. There are many flavored dog toothpastes on the market which are designed to be swallowed. Finding the flavor your dog likes will make brushing all the easier. Toothpastes come in many flavors including beef, chicken, malt, vanilla and many more.
Carol’s Crafts
GO TO THE CRAFT STORE AND BUY A CANVAS TOTE BAG, WHATEVER SIZE YOU WISH, SOME COLORED GLITTER GLUE, AND SOME OF THOSE FELT STICKERS IN DIFFERENT SHAPES WITH STICKY BACKS. JUST PRESS THE STICKERS ONTO THE TOTE BAG. WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE BAG ALSO. ANOTHER IDEA IS TO ADD SEQUINS IF YOU WISH.
Ask Will
Give Will a chance to answer burning questions like:
Why do you always beat me at Canasta?
Do you promise to stay at school this summer? (Who needs to go home?)
Is it true that you will soon be starring in a new reality show about college card sharks and the women who love them?
Seriously though……. Send your questions to Will. He’s going to function like a Dear Abby (hence the picture in this section…. you didn’t think it was Will did you?)
Things My Mother Never Told Me (but I wish she had)
Goldmember is not just an Austin Power’s movie.
Have you ever thought about getting a Premium membership? It’s a win-win situation. Premium members strengthen the league while gaining many personal benefits. Just what exactly are those personal benefits you might ask? Wait a minute…. this is a family league……. you should be ashamed of yourself! I’m talking about stuff like not getting purged for inactivity. We all get busy and are unable to play sometimes. Wouldn’t it be nice not lose all your stats and have to rejoin? And there’s more where that came from….
Premium members get more ladderbux! Gold members get their winnings multiplied by 2; it’s 4x for Platinum members and 6x for Diamond members. Speaking of bux – did you ever wonder where those bux fairies come from who gift players who don’t have enough to enter the tourney? If we didn’t have any Platinum or Diamond members in our league, nobody could get bux gifted to them so they could play. Platinium and Diamond members also get most of the ads on the website disabled and can use their membership on multiple ladders. Please consider supporting the league with a premium membership.
I know what you’re thinking…… “That’s nice Terri, but how much is it going to cost me?” A Gold membership is only $29.95 a year. Platinum membership is $9.95 a month and Diamond membership is $19.95 a month. I spend way more than that on pedicures and I promise you they’re worth it! ;)
Fun Fact of the Month
The average bra size today is 36C. Ten years ago it was 34B.
