Tax News by Mandy

Extender tax breaks: Several popular tax breaks were renewed too late to be included on 2006 federal income tax forms. Accordingly, many taxpayers need to follow special instructions to claim the deduction for state and local sales taxes, the tuition and fees deduction, as well as the educator expense deduction. In addition, many who qualify for the tuition and fees deduction may reap greater tax savings by, instead, claiming the Hope credit or the lifetime learning credit for a particular student.

Minister’s Corner    by Scott

A Scent of Roses,

Jesus in the fifth chapter of Mathew gives us what we call the "Beatitudes." He begins with the words "Happy are ye," and then gives us what will make us happy. People search all of their lives searching for happiness. Riches, relationships, possessions and all kinds of creature comforts. Too late in life do we come to the knowledge that true happiness lies in what we give rather than what we receive. Giving of your talent and time will serve your loved ones much longer than buying them things. My prayer is Lord help me to learn to allow myself to give to others the best I have to all, not just friends and loved ones but to all I meet in this well traveled road we call life...... Amen

The Naked Cowboy

The Sheriff in a small town walks out in the street and sees a blonde cowboy
coming down the walk with nothing on but his cowboy hat, gun, and his boots,
so he arrests him for indecent exposure.

As he is locking him up, he asks "Why in the world are you dressed like
this?"
The Cowboy says:  "Well it's like this Sheriff . I was in the bar down the
road and this pretty little red head asks me to go out to her motor home
with her.  So I did.
We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks me to pull off my shirt.  So
I did.
Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to pull off my pants.  So I did.

Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts  So I did.
Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of sexy and says, "Now go to
town Cowboy",

"and here I am."

Son of a Gun, Blonde Men do exist!

Carol’s Crafts

Thanksgiving Craft for Kids - Turkey Place Card Holders
Your children can help decorate your Thanksgiving table and make a gift for relatives, with these easy to make pinecone turkeys. For an extra touch add place cards for your family members and then they can take the handmade turkeys home.

Supplies: A dry pinecone for each guest, chenille stems (pipe cleaners) in brown or tan, Craft feathers, Craft glue, Cardstock paper
Directions: Lightly dip the ends of the feathers into glue & then insert into the back of the pinecone turkey body. Repeat til you have all of your tail feathers. Allow glue to dry. Fold the chenille stem in half & then bend the tip a bit to make the head. Twist the chenille stem around the tip of the pine cone to create the head and neck & then twist to secure. You may want to fashion some feet with the tips of the stem to help hold the turkey in place. Using cardstock paper, cut, fold & write the name on your place card when it's time to set the table, place it in front of the turkey

NOV WINNIER IS OWNED BY DARLEEN ....THIS IS ALL I KNOW ABOUT THIS CUTIE  :(

WTG DALEEN!!!!

Although a dog's breath under normal circumstances is not the sweetest smell in the world you will certainly notice when it becomes foul smelling. Bad breath is usually an indictor that something is not right with your dog's health.

Possible Causes of Bad Breath in Dogs

Broken, Decayed or Abscessed tooth.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontitis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the teeth)

Bone or foreign body stuck between the teeth

Gastrointestinal disease including cancers and obstructions

Sinus infections

Kidney Disease

Mouth tumors

Firstly, ask yourself if there are any other symptoms associated with the bad breath.

Does your dog seem to be in pain around the mouth area?
Is there a reluctance to eat?
Does your dog try to eat but drops the food once it gets into the mouth?
Does your dog run to the food bowl eagerly then cannot eat.
Is your dog pawing at the mouth?
Is your dog drooling?

These could be signs of a bad, broken or abscessed tooth or gum disease. If possible, check your dog's mouth for foreign bodies such as splinters of bones lodged between the teeth. Check to see if the gums look normal and that there are no signs of swelling or bleeding. An abscessed or damaged tooth may not be noticeable to you so if in doubt get your vet to check your dog's mouth.

Sometimes the food (or garbage) a dog eats can affect it's breath but usually this is not long lasting. After a couple of hours the food has passed through the stomach and into the intestines.

Some underlying conditions that cause canine bad breath can only be successfully diagnosed by your veterinarian.

Ask Will

Dear Will,

My 17 yr old wants me to let her move in with her sister and her family to babysit. They will see to all her needs. Should I let her go or make her wait until she is 18?

Concerned Mom

Dear Concerned Mom

Well….I look at it this way….she’s not moving in with a stranger. She is going to be living with a family member, who is willing to take care of her, feed her, clothe her, and all. If the sister really wants to take on the responsibility, then it is up to your comfort level. If you trust your child to take care of another one of your children….it is up to you. If it were me and I trusted the older sibling to keep the promise of taking care of your 17 yr. old then ok. I would honestly say…try the arrangement for a short period of time and if it is working out for everyone it could be permanent then….but a lot of it depends on your comfort level and how much you trust the sister to hold up her end. If it were me and I trusted her….I would, if the 17yr old is up to the commitment she is making and understands the responsibility. Short answer….If you trust her sister…then give it a try…if it doesn’t work out she could always come home right?

Love,

Your nutty advice giver

Will
